Meet Christina Geromont: A Hero Energy Brand Ambassador
Christina Geromont is a Hero Energy brand ambassador, a Cape Town-based road cyclist, an Atlantic Seaboard local, and one of the growing number of athletes turning to clean, natural fuel as the foundation of their racing.
She's also proof that you don't need a lifetime in the saddle to become a serious competitor. You just need to embody that hero energy: the engine, the training, and the fuel to back it up.
Who Is Christina Geromont?
Christina is a Senior Solutions Analyst by day and a road racing regular by early morning. Based in Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard, she's a familiar face on the Coastal Cruisers group rides and a fixture on the climbs above Camps Bay long before most of the city is awake.
She holds a Master of Science in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine from the University of Cape Town, giving her an athlete's instinct and a scientist's understanding of what real performance nutrition requires. It's this combination of academic grounding and lived racing experience that made her such a natural fit for Hero.
From Lifesaving to Lockdown Cycling
Christina's route into cycling wasn't the usual one. Before she ever clipped into a road bike, she was competing in lifesaving and paddling. When COVID-19 lockdown regulations made those sports impossible, she needed another outlet, and cycling filled the gap.
What started as living-room Zwift races most weeks of the year, run on motivation alone and very little fuelling knowledge, turned into something much bigger once outdoor training opened up again. Group rides led to structured training, and structured training led to racing.
The transition also reshaped her as an athlete. Christina describes herself as shifting from an upper-body-dominant, sprint-focused athlete into a lower-body-dominant rider with a genuine endurance engine, a shift that shows in both her training and her race results.
Race Results That Speak for Themselves
Christina's results over the past two seasons reflect steady, competitive progress in the Western Cape road and gravel scene:
7th in category - Cape Town Cycle Tour 2026, 109km (Road)
5th in category - Tour de PPA 2026 (Road)
4th in category - Cape Town Sprint Triathlon 2026
3rd Female - Rooibos 80km 2025 (Gravel)
3rd in category - Tour de PPA 2025 (Road)
What's Next for Christina
Christina is committing fully to road racing for the rest of 2026, with the PPA One Tonner and the Double Century on her calendar.
Her Riding Style:
A Puncheur Who Can't Resist an Attack
If you have to put Christina in a box, she rides like a puncheur. She's the one who can't help but launch an attack on a group ride, especially when there's a group sprint or a segment QOM on the line.
In training, she gravitates toward torque-based and VO2-based interval sessions, and admits to a love-hate relationship with pure threshold work. Her interval sessions play out on Cape Town's toughest local terrain: The Glen, Camps Bay Drive, and Suikerbossie, while recovery rides take her along the coastal road toward Chapman's Peak, her favourite climb. The most memorable place she's ever ridden is Madeira.
Most rides come with a soundtrack. Christina trains almost exclusively with music, cycling through playlists that range from 2000s throwbacks to classical, rap, techno, and rock, depending on the day and the effort.
Off the bike, she's a Norfolk regular (cortado and a plain croissant, without fail), with Farm Village in Noordhoek, Dario's in Hout Bay, and Custodian in the CBD rounding out her coffee shop rotation.
Why Christina Chose Hero Energy
For Christina, fuelling isn't an afterthought, it's a core part of how she prepares for sessions and races. She takes on a mix of nutrition products, but has always found gels easier to consume on the bike than bars, especially during high-intensity efforts like torque and VO2 intervals where fumbling with food costs momentum.
That's exactly the gap Hero was built to fill: a natural energy gel made with raw Western Cape honey, ashwagandha, B vitamins, and electrolytes, designed for athletes who want clean, effective fuel without the synthetic sugars found in most gels on the market.
Christina's own fuelling journey, from having "all the motivation but no clue" during her early Zwift days to now training and racing with real nutritional strategy, mirrors the reason Hero exists in the first place.
